I Wanna Rock!

Sending Henry off to FIRST GRADE (!!!) was almost too easy this morning. I walked him to his classroom, he picked out a locker and put his stuff away and plopped down in his chair and started reading a book about Abe Lincoln. I stood next to him for a minute waiting for... something... but it was pretty clear there would be no gnashing of teeth or tearful clinging to legs. I bent down and said-

Me: Henry, are you cool for me to leave or do you want me to hang out for a while.
Henry: I'm cool, mom.

And that was it.

In my too quiet house that would now stay clean until 2:30 if I could be bothered to clean it, I had time to finish up and photograph these little guys.

While doing this, on this too quiet day, I kept playing a little scene out in my head wherein Henry's teacher comes into the room and says-

Henry's teacher: Henry! What do you want to do with your life?
Henry (leaping up onto his desk): I wanna ROCK!

It makes me giggle, even though in actuality it would play something like this-

Henry's teacher: Henry! What do you want to do with your life?
Henry (staying in his seat because jumping up on anything higher than 6" is 'dangerous' and would undoubtedly make him 'very nervous'): I want to work with NASA to design and launch the first ever satellite comprised entirely of LEGO".

Ah well.
