Honey Bee has a new friend, Meg, over. Henry has his friend Owen over. Kyle has bread in the oven. I have some tiny knitting on the needles. Life is good.

Today Henry and I went to do a tkd demo at a big local business expo. He was enamored with the idea of seeing himself on this big tv. I broke a board, which was kind of cool since Henry wasn't there the last time. He was suuuuuuper impressed. And if he was reading this right now he would say "That's sarcasm, right?", to which I would have to reply in the affirmative.

My hero and bestie, Michie! She not only picked my booty up and drove it to an 8:30 class when my ancient minivan wouldn't start this morning, but jumped it back to life when we were done. And brought me dog food. And stayed for a cuppa. And is generously full of awesomeness. Hooray!

If I didn't know a butcher with a pitbull lived here a decade ago I would be pretty freaked out about the things Bee digs up in the back yard...

I spent all of yesterday in a district wide school budget meeting. This isn't going to be getting any easier any time soon. Thank goodness we have such amazing and dedicated teachers. They are the reason our kids haven't been feeling it. I heart you, teachers. For serious.

After literally YEARS of digging in his heels and flat out refusing to try, little man has finally learned to ride his bike. Kyle took him to see me at work and show off his new mad skillz in the back parking lot. WooHoo!

This is Amy D. She is my heeeeeero. Not only is she an amazing mama, picture of grace and the most loving and dedicated friend a girl could ask for, but this was her a few minutes before that picture was taken...

Yeah. I know. I want to be like her when I grow up.

Well, I stepped down wrong after a roundhouse in tkd class today (what a stupid injury!) and messed up my foot. The medical team (my friend, Charity who is a nurse) said it should be just fine, but keep it taped and no class or training runs for a little bit. Boo! In other news, I am a full grown woman with giant baby feet. My toes are like little baby sausages. I know. Go ahead and giggle.

Week 2 of the Dirty Girl Atlanta prep program! My app went all haywire yesterday so I couldn't keep good track of my time, but it felt less like I was going to die and that just has to be a good thing, right?

Since Honey Bee is the only girl Henry could offer a flower to without keeling over in embarrassment these days, I guess she is his Valentine this year. Sweet.

Henry got a new origami book and some paper from Memere and Pepere today and immediately set to work folding dozens of cups, pianos, foxes, birds and pinwheels. M + P, Henry will give a call tomorrow night to day thank you! Happy Valentine's Day!

[yes, the paint continues to peel off our old plaster walls. no, we haven't chosen a new paint color yet.]

Okay, so i have some catching up to do...

Last night was fish and chips at my favoritest eatery in the 'ville, HomeGrown. Slow food, right quick indeed.

I couldn't believe when I saw these beauties in our local Earth Fare! They are Zing bars from my favorite eatery in the old 'hood, Zingerman's in Ann Arbor. Now if they would just start packing up ruebens and sending them on down south...

One thing I love about Henry's school is the after school enrichment program run by Parent Team. They offer after school classes of all kinds, from puppetry to choir to... LEGO. Today was Henry's first LEGO class of the semester and he was reluctant to put this creation back in the bucket so I snapped a picture for him. That is not a Christmas tree. It is some sort of very specific laser (BAD mom, I forgot what kind) disguised as an evergreen tree. I was totally fooled.

So the Bee and I have taken our relationship to the next level. We are now running buddies. Well, that might be ever so slightly overstating things. We are more like shuffle-stagger-gasp and walking-at-a-minutely-faster-pace-than-usual buddies. I have decided that I must run in the Atlanta Dirty Girl mud run at the end of April. My running career up to this point is such that it will, in fact, take me all that time to get ready for a 5K. I mentioned this to my friend Mishele, who just ran from Key West to Miami Beach with her husband. Like, actually ran. From Key West to Miami Beach. Not intimidating at all. I left her house with a training schedule and a pair of her old running shoes. I mentioned it to Kyle and walked out of the room with a new running app on my phone that not only tracks my routes and mileage, but also has a button I can push to start playing Eye of the Tiger in an emergency situation. I now (according to said app) have 3.28 miles under my belt, along with a couple of run routes that look like they were laid out by a drunk toddler from out of town. And a happy dog.

This booty is seriously tiny. I knit these wee little toadstool longies up for the February 9th PETITE themed Fresh stocking. They are sized to fit a Waldorf doll with a teensy 13" waist, 8" rise and 4" inseam. I will also be stocking a Waldorf longies custom slot in case you need a Monster Booty on your baby's baby. Matching Crankypants booties for your wee one and their best bud. Yup. Cute factor high.
